Managed in each of your topics, notifications are instant alerts that notify you of your latest and most important media coverage as it is added to each topic.
If you would instead be notified of all new coverage with an automated report containing new media items delivered at a scheduled time that suits you, consider setting up a recurring report.
Enabling topic notifications
To enable notifications, select the topic you want to receive notifications for, select More options > Manage notifications, and select the Recieve email notifications check box to enable the notifications. Once activated, you and any other recipients will receive an email notification for each new media item added to that topic.
Note: To deactivate notifications for a topic, follow the same steps but ensure the checkbox is empty.
Notifications on syndicated media items
For any media items that are syndicated, once you’ve enabled notifications for a topic, you will receive a notification for the first media item delivered to your topic and not for each syndicated version of that item.
Topic notification settings
Once you have enabled notifications for a topic, there are additional filters you can apply so you only receive notifications for your most important media coverage. You can also manage who else in your organisation receives the notifications using Manage recipients, or choose to be notified via email when a recipient you’ve added unsubscribes from your notification.
Notification filters
You may not wish to receive notifications for every single media item added to one of your topics. With notification filters, you can control your notifications and select which media items you receive notifications for.
Additional filters for your notifications include media contacts and outlets, specific geographic locations, and selected media types or sentiment scores.
To apply notification filters, select the Notification filters and the additional filters to be applied, and then save to finalise your changes.
Note: You can easily remove any additional filters you’ve applied by following the same steps and removing any filters using the ‘x’ option.
Managing recipients
Other team members can receive the notification you’ve set up using the Manage recipients option. Select other users in your organisation using the dropdown list, or manually add the email addresses of anyone else you want to receive the notification by adding their email address.
Be notified via email when someone unsubscribes from your notification
By default, when a user unsubscribes from a notification you have added them to, you will receive an update in your system notifications, but you can choose to also receive an email update when a recipient unsubscribes by enabling the Notify me by email when a recipient unsubscribes option.
Jump to the bottom of this article for more details on unsubscribing from notifications.
Managing notifications on your settings page
You can manage your notifications in each of your topics and your active notifications on your settings page. This includes disabling a notification you own or removing yourself from a notification a team member has added you to. You can also select your preferred format for notifications containing print and broadcast media items.
More information on managing your topic notifications on your settings page can be found here.
Exporting a list of your topic notifications
Easily export a list of your notifications to a spreadsheet using the export option on the recurring reports page. The exported spreadsheet will contain a list of your topics and detail whether a notification is currently active.
Depending on your Isentia platform permissions, you may have two options for exporting a list of notifications:
- Export a list of your notifications using the Only My Reports & notifications option,
- Users with admin permissions can export a list of all notifications set up across their organisation using the All Organisation Reports & notifications option.
Unsubscribing from topic notifications
If you no longer need to receive notifications for a topic, you can unsubscribe directly from your email inbox using a link at the bottom of each notification.
If you own a notification, clicking the manage your notification here option will open the settings page in the Isentia platform for that notification. Here you can disable the notification for you and all other recipients, add filters to refine which content you receive notifications for, or manage current recipients.
If a member of your team has added you as a recipient you can unsubscribe by selecting the link at the bottom of the notification. Then, follow the steps to confirm you want to unsubscribe and no longer receive any notifications for that topic.
Note: If you unsubscribe from a notification someone has added you to, they will be notified once you’ve unsubscribed.
