What is Isentia’s next-generation broadcast content?
To continue our mission to empower our clients to make great decisions, we are undertaking a transformation of our broadcast media monitoring service to deliver more content, at a higher quality, and faster, to our clients.
This automated monitoring uses market-leading Voice-To-Text (VTT) technology to create radio and TV media items for delivery to your Isentia account. This radio and TV content looks a little different, but by using a combination of our relevance capabilities and our innovative ad filtering technology we will continue to ensure that the items delivered to your account match your monitoring briefs.
The below article provides an overview of the different aspects of our next-generation broadcast content, but if you require any more information or have any questions about this type of content please reach out to your account management team.
In-platform display of next-generation broadcast content
We’ve designed the item cards of our automated broadcast content to make it easier than ever to understand these types of media items. We’ve included a number of features on each item card to make interpreting these pieces of coverage as simple as possible, including:
- A headline format showing the relevant keywords that have been matched within a media item, as determined by your monitoring brief, as well as the time of airing and the channel or station the piece of coverage was broadcast on. (1)
- A list of “mentions” detailing the number of times relevant keywords, as determined by your monitoring brief, appeared within a media item. (2)
- Labelled automated transcripts showing matching keywords highlighted in bold, making it easier to quickly identify relevant mentions. (3)
- A list of “entities” that provide at-a-glance insight into the key people and organisations mentioned within a specific media item. (4)
(Note: this is not related to your individual monitoring brief but a general listing of the key entities featured within a broadcast item.)
An improved media player and player page.
The next-generation broadcast media player allows us to take interacting with your broadcast content to the next level. The media player page is used to view broadcast content and can be accessed through various parts of your Isentia service including Mediaportal alerts, Coverage reports, and using the Copy link function on broadcast item cards. Our new look player page includes:
- An updated look and feel to the overall media player, allowing a more user-friendly experience when interacting with your broadcast coverage.
- Faster loading time when accessing your broadcast content. This means less time waiting for items to load, and more time viewing the content that matters.
- The ability to continue playing a clip beyond your “tagged” media item. You can now play up to 5 minutes on either side of your media item to understand the full context of a discussion, story, or segment.
- Access to additional information related to your broadcast item, including the new headline format and the automated transcript with highlighted keywords
- The capability to easily download your broadcast clip as either an MP3 or MP4 file.
Editable downloads
As part of our new-look media player page, you have the ability to edit the start and end times of broadcast clips when you download a media file to your device.
How to Download an edited clip
- Select Download on the media player page
- Input a start and end time
- Select the Download button to generate a clip and download it to your device
By default, the clip editor displays the start and end time of your “tagged” media clip, but you can choose to include the content outside your tagged clip by selecting a start and end time from anywhere in the range displayed on the media player.
Next-generation broadcast in Mediaportal Alerts and Reports
The Mediaportal platform allows you to create Mediaportla Alerts and Reports to share your content with other stakeholders within your team. As part of our next-generation broadcast content, we have made some changes to how this type of content is presented in the different alerts and reports that are available.
Displaying next-generation broadcast in Mediaportal Alerts
Any automated broadcast content that is included within your Mediaportal alerts is now displayed in the same way that these types of items are shown within the Mediaportal platform. This makes it easier for the recipients of your alert to understand any automated broadcast content that has been included. For more information on Mediaportal alerts click here.
Automated broadcast items included within your Mediaportal alerts include an updated headline format, (1) the “mentions” groupings detailing the number of times relevant keywords appeared within a media item. (2), and an automated transcript containing highlighted keywords (3).
Including automated transcripts within Mediaportal Alerts.
When creating a Mediaportal alert, you can choose to show or hide automated transcripts for relevant broadcast items. This gives you greater control over how automated broadcast content is presented with your alerts. By default, automated transcripts will be included in your Mediaportal alerts, but you can choose to hide them for relevant items by simply unticking the Show automated transcripts for relevant Broadcast items option in the Format tab of your alert settings.
Note: When automated transcripts are disabled for relevant broadcast items included in your alert, these items will display a headline and additional item details. The body of text generated by the VTT will not appear.
To access your alert settings, click on the Alerts tab on the left-hand panel of Mediaportal, choose the alert you want to update, and select Email Alerts to customise the setup as required.
Displaying next-generation broadcast content in Mediaportal Reports (Custom and PDF)
When building a Custom or PDF report within Mediaportal, any automated broadcast content that you include will now be displayed in the same way as automated broadcast content within your Coverage page. This includes displaying the updated headline format, the “mentions” groupings, and also the automated transcripts containing highlighted keywords.
Note: the above changes only affect Custom and PDF report outputs. Plain Text and Excel reports are not affected by these changes.
Including Automated Transcripts in reports
Within a Custom or PDF report, you can choose to include or exclude automated transcripts for relevant automated broadcast items. This option gives you greater control over how your final report is presented and what information your recipients see when viewing your report. To exclude automated transcripts from relevant items simply untick the Show automated transcripts for relevant Broadcast items option in the Display Options of the Report Builder.
