Creating a topic group

Adding standalone topics to an existing topic group
When you create a new topic, subscribe to a new topic using the browse topics tool, or another user shares a topic directly with you, that new topic will initially appear as a standalone topic in your topics list. But you can easily add your new topic to one of your existing topic groups to make sure your topics remain organised in a way that suits you.
How to: Add a standalone topic in your list to an existing topic group
- Select either the topic options shown on the topic list or More options shown on each topic page,
- Select Move to group
- Choose which of your existing topic groups you want your topic to be added to.
Managing topics in a topic group

How to remove a topic from its current group
- Select the topic options shown on the topic list or More options shown on each topic page.
- Select Remove from group option.
Note: Removing a topic from a group will not delete or remove the topic from your account.
Managing topic groups
As well as being able to manage standalone topics contained in a group, you can manage each of your topic groups with options to; rename an existing group, ungroup all of the topics contained in a group, or delete and remove a topic group, and the topics it contains, from your account.
Rename
Your topic groups are personal to you. So it’s important you create a setup that is tailored to what you need, including giving your topic groups names that help you easily identify which topics are contained in each group.
When your first create a new topic group, you’ll give that group a name, but as time goes by you may want to change what a topic group is named.
How to: Rename topic groups
- Select the topic group options next to the name of your group on your topics list,
- Select Rename
- Add your new topic group name
- Select Rename to finalise your change.
Ungroup
Ungroup works similarly to the remove from group option for individual topics. This allows you to easily dissolve a topic group without removing or deleting any of the topics it contains from your account.
To ungroup your topics, select the topic group options next to the name of your group on the topics list, and select Ungroup.
When you ungroup a topic group, all of the topics it contained will be added back into your standalone topic list, and you’ll still be able to access and action your topics and the media items they contain.
Note: The standalone topics in your topic list are arranged alphabetically. When you ungroup a group of topics, those topics will be added into your standalone topic list in alphabetical order.
Delete group
The delete group or remove from account option will remove the topic group and all the topics it contains from your account.
These topics will no longer be visible in your account, and you’ll no longer be able to view and action the media items these topics contain. You’ll also no longer receive any notifications you have set up for topics in the group you are deleting or removing from your account
Depending on your permissions for each of the topics in the group you are deleting, deleting a group may remove access to individual topics for other users, so we encourage you to read the below information on deleting and removing topics to make sure you fully understand any changes that may take place when you delete a topic group.

Topic groups: Extra information
Below, we’ve detailed some extra expert information that will help you fully understand and use topic groups in the Isentia platform.
- Topic groups are unique to your account and can’t be shared with other users in your organisation. So, if another user requires a similar setup to you, they will need to manually recreate the different groups within their own account.
- There’s no limit to the number of topic groups you can set up within your account or the number of topics that can be added to a topic group.
- Topic groups must contain at least one of your topics. If the last topic in a group is removed from the group or deleted, the overarching group will also be deleted.
- Once a topic group has been deleted, there is no way to undo it being deleted. If you delete a topic group and then require it again, you will need to manually recreate your group and the topics it contains.
