Whether it’s the end of the month, the quarter or following a media campaign, your analytics dashboard is your go-to tool to visualise and better understand your media coverage. By using the integrated reporting tools, you can share your analysis, data and measurement with stakeholders in a format that suits you.

Types of dashboard reports

When sharing your dashboard analysis with stakeholders, you can choose from two types of reports. The report types available have slight differences, so it’s important to select the one that best suits your needs.

You can choose from a PDF report that details an individual chart on your dashboard and includes related media coverage or a report that showcases all of the charts on your dashboard.

PDF report

A PDF report showcases an individual chart from your dashboard and allows you to include up to 1000 media items in the same report, so you can share some of the analysed data with stakeholders.

Note: If you analyse more than 1000 items in your report, the PDF will display the most recent 1000 media items (by date range).

To build a PDF report, select the additional options on the chart in your dashboard and select Build PDF to be taken to the report builder.

Dashboard report

Dashboard reports will showcase all of the charts on your analytics dashboard in the same report and are a great way to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of different data points or multiple charts in one report.

Note: A dashboard report does not include any additional media items. If you want to include media items within your report, you must use the PDF report type.

To build a dashboard report, select the Build report option shown at the top of your dashboard to be taken to the report builder.

Customising your report

After selecting your preferred report type, you’ll be taken to the report builder, where you can customise your report. You can upload custom images and select a colour scheme to give your report a personalised look and feel, and you can choose which additional details to include in your final report.

Note: The report builder is the same for both dashboard and PDF reports, with a couple of minor differences, which we’ve highlighted below.

Personalising your report

Upload custom header and logo images to give your report a personalized look and feel. You can also further customise your report by selecting a personalised colour scheme using a Hex, RGB, or HSL code.

Recommended Image Sizes:  Header image: minimum width of 1440px, Logo image: 200px x 200px

Report name

Your report name will give your stakeholders an instant insight into the report you share with them. It can be up to 50 characters long and will also appear on the front page of your report.

Executive Summary

The executive summary allows you to add additional information for the stakeholders who receive your report.

Your executive summary can be up to 1000 characters long and completely customisable. You can use it to create an introduction to your report, an overview of the key data points, or links to external sources that support the measurement you are sharing.

Display Options

The display options in the report builder allow you to customise what information is included in your final report.

You can include any of the below options by ensuring the checkbox is selected when you build your report.

Report Builder Display Options.png

  • Data Tables – A table displaying the data from each chart included in your report.
  • Data Totals – A snapshot of the key data points for each chart, including the date range, number of mentions, and relevant audience and ASR figures.
  • Commentaries – An automated commentary for each of your charts. Any automated commentaries you include will be displayed below your charts in your report, and each can be edited using the pencil icon in the report builder.
  • Coverage – allows you to include additional media items in your report. If you do include coverage in your report you have a number of additional options to customise how that coverage appears, including choosing to append original print articles, adding links to outlet details, and showing the automated sentiment score on each piece of coverage.

Note: The coverage option is only available when creating a PDF report, so if you wish to include relevant media items in your report this report type must be used.

Chart display in dashboard reports

A dashboard report will contain all of the charts from your chosen dashboard in the order they appear on the dashboard you’ve selected.

If you want to change the order the charts in your report are displayed, you need to reorder your charts as they appear on your dashboard. To remove individual charts from your report, you must remove that chart from your dashboard and rebuild your report.

Sharing your analytics dashboard reports

Once you’ve finalised building your report the next step is to share your report with stakeholders. Sharing your report will depend on which report type you’ve selected and your preferred method for sharing your report.

Exporting a PDF Report

To share your PDF report your finished report needs to be exported as a PDF from the Isentia platform. Once exported and downloaded to your device, your PDF report can be shared as any PDF file can be shared, including as an email attachment.

To begin exporting your PDF report select the Export PDF option at the top of the report builder screen

While the report is being built, you can continue working on the Isentia platform in another tab. This will not affect the report’s progress.

Depending on the size of your report, it may take up to a few minutes to build. You can track its build progress in the new tab that opens.

Note: If a new tab doesn’t open, check that your pop-up blocker allows the Isentia platform to open new pages. If it’s preventing additional pages from being opened, you’ll likely see a red icon appear in the corner of your URL search bar.

Once your report is built, a link will appear that you can use to download the PDF to your device.

Sharing a dashboard report

Once you have finalised the setup of your dashboard report, you can preview its final appearance using the Preview option in the report builder.

Note: If you need to make any changes to your report from your preview, select Edit to return to the report builder.

Once you’ve finalised your report select Share and choose your preferred method of sharing your report with your stakeholders.

Send link via email

Share your report directly from the Isentia platform to your recipient’s email inbox. They will receive an email with a link to view the report and confirmation that you have shared the report with them.

Note: You can input up to 500 characters into the recipient field, using a semicolon to separate different email addresses. If you need to send to more recipients, we suggest sending the email to yourself and then distributing the report from your inbox.

Make your report accessible via a URL link. This will allow you to share it in any way you like, and recipients will be able to view your report wherever you share the link.

Note: Reports shared as a copy link or sent via email will be accessible for 365 days and do not require a login to the Isentia platform to view the report.

Export

Download a PDF version of your report which can then be shared as an email attachment. PDFs are a great way to archive your reports if you need to be able to view and refer back to your data after the 365-day window, after which access to URL links (generated by the copy link option) and send via link functions will no longer be accessible.
