With Report analytics, you can gain insights into the delivery and engagement of manual email reports sent from the Isentia platform. With easy-to-understand metrics, you can track the number of times each email report is successfully delivered and analyse the engagement with your report by seeing the number of unique and total opens and the number of times recipients click on links in your report.
Report analytics: Instances
Using the reports analytics tool, you can view an overview of metrics for all report instances during a selected time period, or view analytics for a single instance to understand data for a single report send.
A report instance can be easily understood as each time you click “send” to share an email report using the report builder.
Example – If you send the report at 9 am, that’s one instance. If you edit the report contents (including adding or removing new or old media items) and send the email report to recipients again at 11 am, that is another instance. Both instances will have data attributed to them in the report analytics screen.
Report analytics: Overview
Opening the report analytics tool on the reports page, you’ll see an analytics overview for all email report instances sent within the selected date range.
You can change the date range to see metrics for all report instances within a specific time period or select individual instances to view the metrics for a single report.
You can export your report analytics using the Export to CSV option. This option exports data for all report instances and is not available if you are viewing metrics for an individual report instance.
Report analytics: Metrics
For each manual email report, the following metrics are available:
- Delivered – the number of times the email report was successfully delivered to recipients.
- Unique opens – the number of unique individuals (email recipients) who have opened the email report
- Unique clicks – the number of unique individuals (email recipients) that have clicked a link in the email report
- Total opens – The total number of times your email report was opened by recipients.
- Total clicks – The total number of clicks on links to view original coverage included in the email report.
Report analytics: FAQs
What is the definition of a report instance?
A report instance can be easily understood as each time you click “send” to share an email report.
Example—If you send an email report to recipients at 9 a.m., that’s one instance. If I edit the report contents and send it again at 11 a.m., that’s another instance. Both instances will have data attributed to them in the report analytics screen.
Are report analytics available on other report types?
No. The report analytics feature is only available for manual reports sent via email from the Isentia platform. It is not available for recurring reports, notifications, or reports exported as a custom link, PDF, or table format.
How far back can report analytics be viewed?
Typically, any new reports created will have 3 months of data to view. However, with the release of this new feature, the earliest date data will be viewable is January 10, 2023.
What is a successful delivery?
The Delivered metric tracks the number of times your report is successfully delivered to recipients. A successful delivery is when your email report is delivered to the recipient’s email inbox without bouncebacks or blocked/rejected deliveries.
If I open an email instance I’ve received twice, is that tracked as two opens?
Opening an email report you’ve received twice will be classed as one unique open but counted as two total opens.
Which links are tracked in the email?
The report analytics “clicks” metric tracks the click on links to view original media items, including the Stream, View PDF and View full-text options you’ll see in your report, and if a user clicks the headline of a media item shown in the report (which also opens a link to the original content).
If I click the same link in an email report twice, is that counted as two clicks?
Clicking the same link will count as a single unique click, but two towards the total click count.
What happens if I send the email to myself and then forward it on?
This will only count the delivery to your email inbox, and analytic data will not be tracked for any recipients you forward the email to.
What happens if my report is forwarded to another recipient?
Due to technical limitations, data for report analytics will not be tracked for any recipients the email report is forwarded to.
Example: If User A is sent an email report directly from the Isentia platform and then forwards the report to User B, then data will only be tracked for User A.
